Item type:Publication, Ялтсын дундаж эзэлхүүний өөрчлөлт ходоодны хавдрыг оношлох чухал маркер болох нь(2020-05-01) ;Ц.Цэнджав ;Я.Эрдэнэ-ОчирIntroduction: Gastric cancer (GC) is the most common cancer in Eastern Asia and the second leading cause of cancer death in Mongolia. In our country, we diagnosed GC with gastric endoscopy, computed tomography (CT), histology, biopsy, and cancer markers. Recent studies have demonstrated that elevated mean platelet volume (MPV) detected in peripheral blood has been identified in various types of cancer (GC, pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer). Platelet plays an important role in cancer progression, and increased by proinflammatory cytokines released by cancer cells through the promotion of megakaryocyte proliferation. MPV is inversely proportional to the PLT count. Last decade, the researchers doing so many studies for GC. However, no data about the relationship between MPV and GC, either sensitivity of cancer markers. Purpose: To investigate the MPV level changes in patients with gastric cancer compared with the healthy-control group Materials and methods: We retrospectively investigated the GC patients who diagnosed in the National Cancer Center of Mongolia between 2017-2018. In total, 112 patients diagnosed with GC, likewise 112 healthy people attended this study. Statistical analyses were performed with the SPSS 25.0 software. All parameters were expressed as means_standard deviation. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The patients’ mean age was 53, and the control groups were 42 years. In terms of gender, 68.8% were men and 31.2% were women. Approximately 42% of patients were diagnosed with poorly differentiated type and the staging of cancer III diagnosed around 42.3% of total patients. The sensitivity of CA72-4, CEA, CA19-9 in GC were 23.3%, 20.5% and 6.3% respectively. In comparison with two groups: the control group and the GC group, 60.9% of the patients were MPV (p <0.01) levels lower than the normal range. The healthycontrol groups' MPV was without any change. When we identified the relationship between MPV and histology, the MPV level was dramatically reduced in moderately and poorly differentiated types but no statistically significant (p=0.12). Furthermore, the relationship between CA72-4 and high MPV levels was statistically significant (p=0.04). Our findings suggest that changes in MPV values could be improved chance of diagnosis GC and as easily available biomarkers for monitoring patients for GC. Conclusion: 1. The patients with gastric cancer, who diagnosed in cancer stage III and poorly differentiated type. 2. MPV levels dramatically decreased in patients with GC compared to the healthy control group. 3. The CA72-4 and CEA cancer markers were more sensitive than CA19-9 with GC patients.
