Introduction: Diagnostic methods for STIs currently used in Mongolia fail to detect Viral STIs. Therefore, we used a nucleic acid detection method to identify the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and human papillomavirus (HPV)’s an infection and included the results in this report. Materials and methods: This study population was visited STI ambulatory of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD). A total of 1196 cervical and urethra swab samples were collected, using GenoFlow-STD Array and GeneFlow-HPV Array, DiagCor, HK test kits based on Flow-throw hybridization method. Results: HSV 1\2 detected in 0.8% (9) of total sample population. While HPV 6\11 genotypes were detected in 3.3% (39) of total sample population. Female samples were tested for HPV’s 33 genotypes and HPV was detected in 30.5% (178) and infections were either single or combination of multiple genotypes. Alarmingly, the most commonly detected genotypes were HPV 16 [14.6% (26)], 31[11.2% (20)], 52 [10.1% (18)], and HPV 81[8.9% (16)] which are the high risk genotypes of HPV. Conclusion: HPV infection is high among the general population because HPV was most often detected in asymptomatic patients compared to symptomatic patients. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Introduction: Sexually transmitted infections are one of the leading infectious diseases and recorded a fairly high incidence in our country, Although STIs are caused by more than 30 types of bacteria, viruses and parasites, a relatively few cases of incidence of urogenital ureaplasma and mycoplasma infections are diagnosed only for research purpose and registered. However, the majority of non-specific inflammation in women are caused by ureaplasma and mycoplasma infections. Purpose: To identify and investigate conditional pathogenic Mycoplasma hominis (MH), Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), and Ureaplasma parvum (UP) among female clients of STI cabinet. Materials and methods: Total 582 women, who had been serviced STI department of National Center for Communicable Diseases, were selected and involved in the study. Swab samples from the vagina and cervix were taken and detection of Mycoplasma hominis (MH), Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU), and Ureaplasma parvum (UP) by Flow-through Micro-array method based on nucleic acid [Flow-through Micro-array, DiagCor, HK] and determined the results. Results: For detecting pathogen, M.hominis was detected in 23.9% and U.urealyticum and U.parvum in 55.3% of the specimens, taken from the vagina and cervix in women. M.hominis was detected in161 (38.7%), U.urealyticum U.parvum was detected in 213 (50.8%) in 420 women with STD symptom, whereas M.hominis was detected in 54 (33.3%), U.urealyticum U. parvum was detected in 109 (67.3%) (p<0.001) in 162 asymptomatic women. In women, detected M.hominis alone, cervical inflammation in 70.2% and vaginal inflammation in 46.8% were observed by clinical examination. However, cervicitis was found in 53.2% and vaginal inflammation in 28.3% was found in case of single infection with U.urealyticum/U.parvum. Conclusion: 1. The prevalence of mycoplasma and ureaplasma infections was determined high (29.3% and 55.3%) among the women, surveyed in the study. 2. Clinical signs of vaginitis and cervicitis was observed up to 70% in women, infected with conditional pathogenic M.hominis, U.urealyticum / U.parvum alone, indicating that these conditional pathogens might be the major cause of nonspecific inflammation in women.
