Nursing is a science that helps to maintain and improve a person's health and throughout life, from birth to death. That's why nursing has been around since the beginning of human. For example of this is a mother taking care of her child. The world is globalization the science of nursing care is an activity that has its own unique principles, rules and technology. During the Crimean War of 1850, nurse Florence Nightingale began to keep the most severe ill patients under supervision. Then in 1923, Doctor Walter E opened a three-bed intensive care unit after neurosurgery and began to serve patients with a specially trained nurse, laying the foundation for the current Intensive Care Unit. The main goal of the intensive care unit is to bring together the patients with severe vital system disorders, to serve them with a skilled team using equipment and delicate diagnostic methods, to make a diagnosis in a short time and to treat and care in a timely manner. The survey was conducted from March 20, 2020 to March 25, 2020, according to a questionnaire from a total of 17 nurses in the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit of the Second general hospital. The participants were classified by age: 23% between the ages of 20-25, 24% between the ages of 26-30, 18% between the ages of 31-35, and 35% over the age of 36. Satisfaction with the profession: yes 82.3%, no 17.6%. Depending on how they choose their profession: 47% at their own interest, 41.1% at the request of their parents, 5.8% under the influence of friends and relatives, and the other remaining 5.8%. By years of service in this department: 1-4 years 47%, 5-10 years 17.6%, more than 11 35.2%. In terms of workload: very high 88.2%, high 11.7%, medium 0%, low 0%. Sufficiency of nurses working in the ward: sufficient 0%, insufficient 100%. Difficulty working: 10.4% of nursing, 24.7% of /electronic/ drug delivery and distribution, 17.6% of patients per nurse, 23.7% of non-working hours, 19% of paperwork, poor work clothes 5 %. According to the survey, majority of the nurses have worked for 1-4 years, showing an increase in number of young colleagues. Research shows that people choose this profession based on their interests and are satisfied with their profession. According to the standard MNS 6330: 2017, intensive care nurses should serve 2 patients, while in our ward 1 nurse serves 3-4 patients, which shows that the workload is high. Nurses spend a lot of time distributing medicines electronically and doing paperwork that gives less time to provide care to their patients. The nurses of the intensive care unit are very overworked and they are dissatisfied with that.
