Item type:Publication, Midwives’ knowledge and health guidance practices regarding gestational weight gain in Mongolia: A cross-sectional study(Sciedu Press, 2025-12-23) ;Aiko Tohara ;Naoko Hikita; ; Hiromi MatsufujiObjective: Excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) affects perinatal outcomes. However, to our knowledge, there are no studies on midwives’ knowledge and health guidance practices regarding GWG in Mongolia. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate midwives’ knowledge about weight control, clarify GWG guidance during pregnancy, and identify factors related to the implementation of GWG guidance in Mongolia. Methods: A cross-sectional study using a web-based questionnaire was conducted among midwives registered with the Mongolian Midwives Association. The survey was conducted between July and August 2024. The questionnaire asked about calculating body mass index (BMI), BMI categories, and implementation of GWG health counseling. Multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with health guidance on GWG and BMI knowledge. Results: A total of 414 responses were analyzed. Of the participants, 38.4% could correctly calculate BMI, and 37.7% could correctly answer what the BMI “normal weight” category was. Furthermore, 38.6% to 77.8% of midwives provided the 10 recommended health guidance items to more than 90% of pregnant women. Midwives working in hospital wards, those with fewer years of clinical experience, those who did not know how to calculate BMI, and those who did not have experience learning about weight control were associated with lower GWG health guidance scores. Conclusions: This study clarified the health guidance practices regarding GWG and determined midwives’ level of knowledge about weight control in Mongolia. Postgraduate education for midwives should be enhanced to improve health guidance for GWG in Mongolia. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of physical rehabilitation on the functional state of post covid-19 patients(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-09-15) ;Sergey Tikhonovich Kokhan ;Elena V. Romanova ;Luiza V. Nadeina; The article presents the results of physical rehabilitation of post COVID-19 patients with moderate and severe severity. All sessions with patients were carried out on an outpatient basis in an individual format for 14 days. Taking into account the multisystem nature of COVID-19, the presence of chronic diseases and complications, the recovery period for those who have been ill generally depends on the start of complex rehabilitation measures. Our study has reliably shown that against the background of medical prescriptions, physiotherapy, psychological and social indicators, a complex of training sessions for pulmonary and physical rehabilitation, teaching techniques for improving the structure of the respiratory cycle in those who have been ill provides an improvement in exercise tolerance and psycho-emotional state and quality of life. Against the background of physical rehabilitation, the patients showed an improvement in both clinical parameters and functional state. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Online distance education system in remote region in the Russian and Mongolian universities during the COVID-19 pandemic(EDP Sciences, 2021-01-01) ;Sergey Tikhonovich Kokhan; ; ; The objective of the study is to compare the role of faculty between two universities in restriction regime conditions, to identify problems and future perspectives for the transformation of information technologies in universities. The study was conducted among 145 lecturers from Russia and 102 lecturers from Mongolia. The questionnaire consists of 20 questions related to the research topic. The anonymous study was conducted in July 2020 after the second academic semester. The analysis of the resulting survey showed 100% adaptability to online learning of the lecturers in the National University of the Medical Science in Darkhan and 75% adaptability to online learning of the lecturers in Trans-Baikal State University when they moved to the online learning approach. The effectiveness and quality of the transition to the online learning approach principally depend on the professional qualities of lecturers. The lecturers of the Mongolian university had an adequately high level of application of modern information and communication technology in distance learning in comparison with the lectures in Trans-Baikal State University. The implementation of the educational online process by lecturers should be focused on obtaining high-quality higher education, two university students. Survey findings point to the need for universities to continue to improve digital transformation, which is currently one of the most effective ways to engage students in the educational process.Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Presenteeism among healthcare professionals in Mongolia: A mixed-method multicenter study(AIMS Press, 2026-01-01) ;Oyundari Batsaikhan ;Odgerel Chimed-Ochir ;Delgerjargal Dorjbal; BackgroundPresenteeism, defined as attending work while ill, is a growing concern among healthcare professionals due to its impact on well-being, work function, and the quality of care. Despite extensive global research, evidence from Mongolia remains limited, where workforce shortages and systemic constraints uniquely shape presenteeism. We examined factors associated with presenteeism among Mongolian healthcare professionals.MethodsThis study used an explanatory sequential mixed-method design. The quantitative phase consisted of a cross-sectional online survey of physicians and nurses at three referral-level state hospitals, who were selected by convenience sampling. The qualitative phase consisted of semi-structured interviews with clinician managers, selected through purposeful sampling until thematic saturation was reached. Data were thematically analyzed, and the findings were integrated through triangulation.ResultsA total of 465 survey respondents (physicians and nurses) participated in the quantitative phase, of which 64.5% reported presenteeism. The factors significantly associated with presenteeism were psycho-physical health complaints (AOR = 4.51, p < 0.001), coworkers' support (AOR = 2.38, p < 0.001), and workload (AOR = 2.08, p < 0.001). Qualitative analysis of 14 interviews with clinician managers identified five interrelated themes: inadequate occupational health policy, shortcomings of occupational infrastructure, staff shortages and heavy workloads, informal workplace practices and professional norms, and unaddressed health burdens. Integration of quantitative and qualitative findings indicates that these associations are shaped by underlying organizational and structural conditions. Qualitative data explain how heavy workload, staff shortages, and informal workplace norms compel healthcare professionals to work despite illness, while strained coworker relationships reflect peer pressure and team-based expectations. Taken together, similar to the existing global literature, the results reveal that structural and organizational challenges, rather than individual health-related behaviors, are the primary drivers of presenteeism in this context.ConclusionsThe findings suggest that addressing presenteeism among healthcare professionals in Mongolia and similar low-resource settings requires coordinated national efforts targeting workplace conditions, organizational support, and occupational health policies to promote workforce well-being.
