Item type:Publication, Risk Factors of Arterial Hypertension Among Mongolian Nurses(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2015-09-25); ; ;Altantsetseg Togoo; Objectives: This study aims to survey the prevalence and risk factors of hypertension (HTN) among nurses. Methods: Data was collected from 528 nurses of 23 hospitals in Ulaanbaatar (UB) and local hospitals in other regions. We randomly selected day-shift only nurses (264) and shift nurses (264), collected blood samples, administered a health survey questionnaire, and processed data with SPSS 19.0 statistic software. Results: Overall, 8% of participants who work for shift and 7.2% of day working nurses are smokers (p<0.0001). 3.2% of shift working nurses and 3.8% day working nurses use overuse alcohol (p<0.0001). The day working nurses and the shift working nurses and compared their BMI to measured normal (42.1% and 36.4%) overweight (39.7% and 43.9%), obesity (18.2% and 19.7%) (p<0.02), central obesity normal (39.4% and 34.5%), and central obesity≥ 80 (60.6% and 65.5%), body fat percentages are normal (29.2% and 16.1%) and increase (70.8% and 73.9%), visceral obesity are normal (65.9% and 63.3%) and increase (34.1% and 36.7%). Nurses (day-work and shift-work) who have arterial HTN are detected by normal (72.3% and 59.1%), prodromal period (14.4% and 16.7%), 1st stage (12.1% and 19.7%), 2nd stage (1.2% and 4.5%) (p><0.002). central obesity normal (39.4% and 34.5%), and central obesity≥ 80 (60.6% and 65.5%), body fat percentages are normal (29.2% and 16.1%) and increase (70.8% and 73.9%), visceral obesity are normal (65.9% and 63.3%) and increase (34.1% and 36.7%). Nurses (day-work and shift-work) who have arterial HTN are detected by normal (72.3% and 59.1%), prodromal period (14.4% and 16.7%), 1st stage (12.1% and 19.7%), 2nd stage (1.2% and 4.5%) (p<0.002). Working time of nurses detected that shift working nurses’ arterial hypertension amount is higher than day time working nurses. Conclusion: 24.2% of shift working nurses have HTN is showed that higher than day time working nurses. Hypertension is directly related to overweight, obesity, visceral obesity and high blood glucose level. (p<0.0001). ><0.0001). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Blood Donors with Different Types of Human Constitution Demonstrate Different Level of Cytokines(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2018-06-25); ;Soodoi, Chimedtseren; ; Objective: This study was aimed to determine possible relationship between the types of human constitution used in Mongolian traditional medicine and certain types of immune response in healthy blood donors. Materials and methods: Ninety-three blood donors were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. The type of human constitution was determined using the method of Sachs R (1995) and modifi ed by Batchimeg et al. (2003), in which the titer of cytokines (Human IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, IFNγ and TGFβ) in blood plasma and in supernatant of 12- hour PBMC culture were measured by ELISA. Results: Analysis and comparison of different cytokine titers in different constitution groups produced the following fi ndings: Subjects with Badgan ( Tibetan-badken, or phlegm, or bile) type of constitution had a lower activity of Th2 mediated immune response; subjects with Shar ( Tibetan-mkrispa [kris-pa] or mucus) humour domination had a higher activity of Th2 mediated response; and subjects with Khii humour domination may demonstrate higher activity of Th1 mediated response. Conclusion: Human typology types used in Mongolian traditional medicine are likely related to activity or intensity of certain types of adaptive immune responses and authors see an essential need to continue research in this fi eld of study. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Buteelch-5, A Traditional Formula Ameliorates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis in Mice(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2019-12-29) ;Hasiqiqige ;Fanfan Zhang; ;Bold SharavObjectives: To examine the therapeutic effects of buteelch-5, a traditional formula on DSS-induced colitis in C57/BL6 mice and its possible mechanisms. Methods: Colitis in mice was induced by oral administration of 5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) for seven days. On the eighth day after administration of DSS, buteelch-5 (500 mg/kg, twice a day) was given orally to mice for five consecutive days. Ciprofioxacin (50 mg/kg, once a day for 5 days) was given to mice as a comparison. Two hours after the last administration of buteelch-5 and ciprofioxacin, mice were euthanized, and colon tissues were removed. Protein and mRNA levels of occludin, claudin-1 and zonula occludens (ZO)-1 in colon tissues were determined by western blot and real time-qPCR respectively. Histopathological analysis of colon tissues was performed. Results: Histological analysis revealed successful establishments of colitis models. Treatment with buteelch-5 markedly inhibited DSS-induced colon injury. Furthermore, buteelch-5 increased (2.14-2.67 fold) the occludin, claudin and ZO-1 protein and mRNA levels in colon tissues of mice administered with DSS. Significant increase was observed in occludin mRNA levels after buteelch-5 treatment (p<.05). Conclusion: Buteelch-5 improves microscopic inflammation and increases tight junction protein expressions such as occludin, claudin, and ZO-1 in mice with DSS-induced colitis. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effects of Hepaclin-4 on Hepatocellular Carcinoma (Hep G2)(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2018-03-25); ;Naranbat, Nergui; ; Objective: Liver cancer is the fifth most frequent cancer worldwide and is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage. Natural products play an important role in anticancer drug therapy because they are effective in treating specific characteristics of cancer while also effective at reducing side effects. However, the cytotoxicity and anti-proliferative effects of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Saussurea amara L, Chiazospermum erectum (L) Bernh, Carthamus tinctorius L., remain unclear. Our research aims to investigate the anti-cancer properties of Hepaclin-4 (Hep-4) extracts from the above mentioned plants. Methods: To evaluate the in vitro cytotoxicity of Hep-4, an ethanol extract of Hep-4 (500, 250, 125, 100, 50, and 10 μg/mL)L, doxorubicin, and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) were assessed against the Hep G2 hepatocarcinoma cell line by monitoring proliferation using the MTT assay method. Results: The results demonstrated growth inhibition of cells in both dose-and time-dependent manners. Hep-4 inhibited Hep G2 transformation in 45% and the comparative group, 5-FU, effects on 40% of it. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that Hep-4 extracts have the potential to be a potent cytotoxic agent against Hep G2 cells, as it has commendable anti-proliferative effects against hepatocarcinoma cell lines and can be considered an effective adjuvant therapeutic agent. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Association of Serum Iron Parameters with Activity of Liver Enzymes in Mongolian Patients with Chronic Hepatitis "C"(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2017-06-25); ; Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum iron parameters with the activity of liver enzymes among patients with HCV in Mongolia. Methods: Twenty patients with HCV, who were registered at the National Center for Communicable Diseases, Mongolia, participated in our study. Serum iron and serum ferritin levels were determined using immunoassay. Hepcidin levels were analyzed using ELISA. Results: Liver enzymes, aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT) and alanine transaminase (ALAT), were 65.79 ± 0.52u/l and 51.22 ± 0.54 u/l, respectively. Serum iron levels were high (>180μg/dl) in 20% of patients, while serum ferritin levels were high in (>300ng/ml) in 25% of patients. Serum ferritin levels were strongly correlated with elevated ASAT (r = 0.62, p = 0.005) and ALAT (r = 0.53, p = 0.02). Additionally, serum iron was strongly correlated with ASAT (r = 0.61, p = 0.002) and ALAT (r = 0.53, p = 0.02). No correlation was identified between ASAT or ALAT and hepcidin. Conclusion: ALAT and ASAT levels were directly associated with increased levels of serum iron, but not serum ferritin. Serum hepcidin levels may affect ASAT levels. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Comparative Study of Bloodletting Therapy and Acupuncture Treatment on Headache Caused by “Blood-Fire Origin”(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2019-03-31); ; ; Objective: The study aimed to compare the effects of bloodletting and acupuncture treatment on patients with headaches caused by “blood-fire origin”. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out at Affiliated Hospital of National University of Inner Mongolia, with two treatment groups, one receiving bloodletting and the other acupuncture. The effects of both treatments were evaluated using the traditional medical questionnaire, visual analog scale scores, and serum lab tests at baseline and one month after treatment. Sixty patients with headaches caused by “blood-fire origin” participated in the study and 27 were male while 33 were female. The data were analyzed at baseline and 1month after treatment using t-tests. Results: After treatment, all complaints related to headaches improved in both study groups when compared before the treatment (p<.05). The visual analog scale pain score was significantly reduced (p=.002) both groups after treatment. Following treatment, the serum nitric oxide and endothelin levels were significantly reduced (p=.0001) compared to pre-treatment levels. Conclusion: Bloodletting and acupuncture decreased the frequency of headache score and reduced the intensity of pain score in patients with headaches. The nitric oxide and endothelin levels were significantly decreased in patients who received bloodletting treatment compared to acupuncture.
