Item type:Publication, Association between NT- pro BNP and Cardio-metabolic Risk Factors in Mongolians(2021-07-30); ; ;Ganbat Mijidsuren ;Ganchimeg UlziisaikhanObjective of the study was to evaluate the association of NT-pro BNP to cardio-metabolic risk factors, including the metabolic syndrome. Research method: This study was included 194 participant s aged from 35- to 64 years, who were health checkup examinee’s and had no clinical symptoms of heart failure. Cardio-metabolic risk factors were detected by clinical examinations and laboratory test. Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation definition. NT-pro BNP determination was performed on an immunoassay analyzer (FIA8000, Getein Bio Medical Inc). The cut-off point for NT-pro BNP was 125pg/ml. We examined with multivariate linear regression of the relationship between NT-pro BNP and cardio-metabolic risk factors. A logistic regression analysis was also performed to assess the influence of cardio-metabolic risk factors and metabolic syndrome on NT- pro BNP values. Research results: A total of 194 participants included in the study of which, 75 (38.6%) were men and 119 (61.4%) were women. The mean age was 51.3±7.9 75 years. Thirty-two participant s (16.5%) showed elevated NT-pro BNP levels of ≥125 pg/ml. Sixty-one (31.4%) participants had metabolic syndrome. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that age (β=0.140, P=0.049), systolic blood pressure (β=0.198, P=0.007) and diastolic blood pressure (β=0.174, P=0.018) were positively correlated with NT-pro BNP levels, while body mass index (β=-0.209, P=0.004) was negatively correlated with NT-pro BNP levels. Age (OR=1.07, P=0.011) and hypertension (OR=5.98, P=0.007) were the independent predictors of elevated NT-pro BNP levels. Conclusion: NT-pro BNP levels were significantly increased in participants with hypertension and metabolic syndrome and were lower in obesity. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Screening, Awareness, Treatment, and Control of Dyslipidemia Among Adults in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia(Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, 2019-12-29); ;Rinchyenkhand Myagmardorj; ; Objective: The prevalence of dyslipidemia continues to increase in recent decades in Mongolia; however, little is known about awareness, treatment, and control of dyslipidemia. The aim of this study was to assess the awareness, treatment, and control of dyslipidemia in adults in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted between June 2017 and March 2018. A total of 326 people in Ulaanbaatar participated in this study. Results: Out of the 326 participants, 224 (68.7%, 64.9 in females; 75% in males) had dyslipidemia, and around the one third 113 (34,7%) were aware of the condition. Out of the 224 dyslipidemia individuals, only 27 (8.3%) were on statin treatment. Among those individuals receiving treatment, 19 (70.4%) serum lipid level was under the desired level. Conclusion: Our study revealed an alarmingly high prevalence of dyslipidemia, low level of awareness, insufficient treatment, yet a comparatively high level of control of dyslipidemia among the adults aged 20- 69 in Ulaanbaatar relative to some other countries. The awareness, treatment, and control of dyslipidemia in the rural parts of Mongolia are unknown. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Chronic Heart Failure in the Mongolian Population(2023-03); ; ;Ulziisaikhan, Ganchimeg; BACKGROUND: The prevalence of heart failure in the Mongolian population is unknown. Thus, in this study, we aimed to define the prevalence of heart failure in the Mongolian population and to identify significant risk factors for heart failure among Mongolian adults. METHODS: This population-based study included individuals 20 years and older from seven provinces as well as six districts of the capital city of Mongolia. The prevalence of heart failure was based on the European Society of Cardiology diagnostic criteria. RESULTS: In total, 3480 participants were enrolled, of which 1345 (38.6%) participants were males, and the median age was 41.0 years (IQR 30-54 years). The overall prevalence of heart failure was 4.94%. Patients with heart failure had significantly higher body mass index, heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and systolic/diastolic blood pressure than patients without heart failure. In the logistic regression analysis, hypertension (OR 4.855, 95% CI 3.127-7.538), previous myocardial infarction (OR 5.117, 95% CI 3.040-9.350), and valvular heart disease (OR 3.872, 95% CI 2.112-7.099) were significantly correlated with heart failure. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first report on the prevalence of heart failure in the Mongolian population. Among the cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, old myocardial infarction, and valvular heart disease were identified as the three foremost risk factors in the development of heart failure.Scopus© Citations 2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Seroprevalence and risk factors of tick-borne encephalitis in Mongolia between 2016 and 2022(Elsevier BV, 2023-08) ;Ganbold, Dashdavaa ;Uudus, Bayarsaikhan ;Nyamdavaa, Naranbat; The tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a zoonotic agent that causes severe encephalitis in humans and is transmitted through the bites of infected ticks. Ixodes ticks are the primary vector for TBEV in Mongolia, and approximately 3.4% carry the TBEV. The ticks are capable of not only transmitting these viruses but also serve as excellent reservoir hosts. The Dermacenter tick species may have similar properties. TBEV is a significant cause of virus-related diseases of the central nervous system in many European countries as well as in China, Russia, and Mongolia. Our objectives were to investigate TBEV seroprevalence and infection risk factors in different biogeographical zones and provinces, especially in the highly endemic areas of Mongolia. Serum samples were collected from individuals who experienced tick bites (n = 993) in Mongolia between 2016 and 2022. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of the samples was performed to evaluate for TBEV-specific immunoglobulin (Ig)M and IgG. We analyzed the risk factors and seroprevalence of TBEV infection among these individuals using a cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study. Statistical analyses were performed using a multistage cluster sampling survey design, and all data were analyzed using the R software. TBEV IgM and IgG antibodies were detected in 8.1% (80/993) and 20.2% (201/993) of all serum samples, respectively. The seroprevalence was significantly higher in men (68%, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.63-3.13, odds ratio [OR]: 2.25) than in women (p < 0.001). Additionally, the seroprevalence was significantly higher among unemployed (35.0%, 95% CI: 0.31-0.84, OR: 0.51) than employed individuals (p < 0.001). The seroprevalence was the highest among the 25-29 and 35-39-year age groups (11%, 95% CI: 1.29-5.51, OR: 2.65 and 11%, 95% CI: 0.94-3.87, OR: 1.9, respectively), and the lowest in the 65-69-year age group (4%, 95% CI: 0.46-6.15, OR: 1.83) (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the seroprevalence was the highest in Selenge province and the capital city Ulaanbaatar (40%, 95% CI: 1.73-21.7, OR: 5.07 and 28%, 95% CI: 0.51-6.89, OR: 1.57, respectively) and the lowest in Bayan-Ulgii and Dornod provinces (0.5%, 95% CI: 0.06-12.4, OR: 1.33 and 0.5%, 95% CI: 0.03-6.24, OR: 0.72, respectively). TBEV infection incidence remained low in most regions of Mongolia but increased in endemic areas. Furthermore, in the univariate subgroup analysis, age, occupation status, and residential area were significantly associated with TBEV seroprevalence.Scopus© Citations 10 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Electrocardiographic and echocardiographic findings in long COVID-19: analyzing repolarization alterations and cardiac abnormalities(2024-12-17); ;Ch. Munkhsuren ;Batnaran Dagdan; Purpose. This study aims to identify and compare ECG and echocardiographic abnormalities in long COVID-19 patients, highlighting potential cardiac indicators. Material and methods.A hospital-based cross-sectional study with case-control analysis was conducted, we will add a detailed explanation of how patients were categorized into case (n = 60) and control groups (n = 60), based on specific criteria such as previously COVID-19 test, symptoms, ECG and echocardiographics with long COVID-19 related changes.Cardiac repolarization parameters, including TpTe interval and QTc interval, were evaluated through electrocardiography (ECG) (Nihon Kohden, 2016).Additionally, echocardiography (Xario 200, Canon, 2018) was employed to assess reactive pericarditis, cardiac contractility, and relaxation.Laboratory data were collected, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 software. Results. The study cohort had an average age of 45.7 ± 13.4 years.Among the findings, 35.7% of patients exhibited increased pericardial echogenicity, 23% had suspected reactive pericarditis, while 35.7% showed no elevated pericardial echogenicity. The Tp/Te interval, indicative of cardiac repolarization, was significantly prolonged in the case group (0.139 ± 0.02 sec) compared to the control group (0.089 ± 0.01 sec) (p < 0.001).Similarly, the QTc interval was extended by 0.559 ± 0.08 sec in the case group (QTc interval prolongation > 0.480 sec), demonstrating a significant difference from the control group (0.421 ± 0.03 sec) (p < 0.001).The linear regression analysis revealed significant associations between repolarization changes and several predictors in long COVID-19 patients.Notably, elevated triglycerides (β = 0.17, p < 0.001), cholesterol levels (β = 0.11, p < 0.001), TpTe (β = 2.09, p < 0.001), and reactive pericarditis (β = 0.05, p < 0.05) were identified as significant predictors of long COVID-19.Conclusion.Reactive pericarditis and repolarization changes, including TpTe and pericardial layer parameters, may manifest during the course of long COVID-19.
