Item type:Publication, Knowledge of the adverse effects of smoking and related changes in smoking status during pregnancy among female smokers: a survey in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia(Taylor & Francis, 2023-03-23) ;Odonchimeg Purev; ;Batgerel Oidov ;Baigalmaa LuvsandagvaSmoking during pregnancy causes various health problems in pregnant women and their newborns. We aimed to clarify the association between smoking behavior during pregnancy and knowledge about health risks associated with active and passive smoking during pregnancy among women smokers prior to pregnancy. We conducted a questionnaire survey among women in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia between October and December 2018. Of the 220 women who received the questionnaire, 200 (90.9%) responded; however, due to incomplete data, 49 participants were excluded. Among the 151 participants included in the study, 80 (53.0%) actively smoked during and 71 (47.0%) quit smoking directly before pregnancy. A significant difference in the knowledge of the health risks associated with active smoking between both groups was found (P < 0.001). The likelihood of smoking cessation during pregnancy was higher in women who were more knowledgeable about the health risks of active smoking than in those who were less knowledgeable (odds ratio, 3.824; 95% confidence interval: 1.594–9.171). The prevalence of smoking during pregnancy was associated with a lack of knowledge of the health risks of active smoking. Therefore, measures should be taken to ensure that women are adequately advised about the maternal and fetal health risks associated with smoking during pregnancy and subsequently promote the well-being of both the mother and infant. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Child-Pugh Classification using Magnetic Resonance Imaging using Gadoxetic Acid-based Contrast Agent Compared with Indocyanine Green and 99mTc-galactosyl-human Serum Albumin Liver Scintigraphy(Gunma University, 2019-08-01); ;Takahito Nakajima ;Kei Shibuya ;Suman ShresthaHiromi HirasawaThis study evaluated liver function using gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (EOB-MRI) to improve assessment of patients with liver tumors compared to Child-Pugh classification (CPC). Materials and methods: The liver function of 59 patients was assessed to determine the indication for heavy ion therapy. Clinical and laboratory assessments, including 99mTc-GSA liver scintigraphy and indocyanine green retention index (ICGR15), were performed for liver function assessment. EOB-MRI was performed on T1W1 images both before and after Gd-EOB-DTPA administration and hepatobiliary phase images were acquired 20-min post-injection. Liver parenchymal enhancement ratio (LER) was measured based on liver-to-spleen (L/Sp) ratios calculating the average liver intensity divided by spleen intensity. Results: The mean LER values on MRI were 138.2±12.8 (133.9-142.5), 115.7±11.6 (110.0-121.5), and 93.2±15.8 (73.6-112.9) in CPC-A, -B and -C, respectively. From the correlation between the LER on MRI and ICGR15 and parameters of 99mTc-GSA liver scintigraphy, LER on MRI was highly significantly correlated with ICGR15 (r=-0.67; p<0.0001). Discussion: This study demonstrated that LER values on EOB-MRI could classify liver function and had high correlation with CPC and ICGR15.
